Welcome  to our Website!
Here we will try to share historical  documents, pictures, and general information to aid in the discovery and  understanding of our origins. Johan Heinrich and Elizabeth Plassmeyer came to the area of Westphalia in Osage County, Missouri USA in 1857 with six  children: Anton, Johan Hermann, Joseph, Johann, Elizabeth, and Gerhard. This website focuses on the descendants of Joseph.

Deer Creek  Farm--Ancestral Home of the  Joseph Plassmeyer Family, descendants of Johan Heinrich Plassmeyer and  Elizabeth Heckemeyer of Wadersloh in  Prussia. Johan Heinrich Nienkemper  married Elizabeth, the widow of Anton Plassmeyer in 1835, and took the  name Plassmeyer according to custom and  to preserve hereditary tenure. But  records also show that Nienkemper's parents had the last name of Lutke-Hackenkamp, leading genealogical   researchers into confusion, and  suggesting that while we are a Plassmeyer family, we cannot  properly be called the Plassmeyer    family.
We dedicate this  space to the memory of our family members who died in the service of our
country:
Anton and John (Johan) in the Civil War
 and
Bernard in the  Vietnam War.

Joseph and Elizabeth Morfeld Plassmeyer.  Joseph married Elizabeth in 1883 after his first wife, Margaretha, died in 1882.   Margaretha  Bode had married Gerhard Winkelman in 1861, and they had two children, Bernard and Herman.  Gerhard Winkelman died in 1865.  Margaretha then married Joseph Plassmeyer in 1867.  They had five children, Henry, Martin, Mary and Clara (Another son, John, died as an infant).  Margaretha and her son, Bernard, died in 1882.   Joseph then married Elizabeth Morfeld in 1883.  They are the parents  of  Joseph Plassmeyer  (The Colonel).  They also raised the children of Joseph and Margaretha Bode Winkelman Plassmeyer,  and  the surviving  Winkelman child, Herman.
